Do You Wear Gloves While FMQ?

I have been doing quite a bit of free motion quilting lately trying to complete some of my UFOs. I've found that my quilting comes out better if I use quilting gloves. I like the extra grip it gives me and it makes it a little easier to move the fabric around. Above is a picture of two styles. The first is the stretchy knit with the rubber coated fingers. These can be worn on either hand. They are light weight and not too hot to wear. This is a new pair since I actually wore holes in a couple of the fingers on my last pair.

On the next pair, the gray area is rubber and the blue is the top that is supposed to breath. I really like the grip these give but they are very hot to wear for a long period of time. Do you wear gloves and what is your favorite kind?

I always wear gloves when I quilt. I didn't when I started, but what a difference they make for me in terms of control. I like the same ones you do -- the white ones -- though I have a "dirty" pair to wear in the event the surface treatment (such as oil paint sticks) isn't totally dry.

I use the ones on the right for gardening, and I have an overabundance of left handed ones. I always wear the right hand out first. I never thought to use them for quilting! I'll have to wash a pair and give it a try.

I have gloves I use the same as your pair on the left and really like them. Last year when I attended a Sulky class, the educator wore no gloves at all. She grabbed a chunk of the sandwich on either side of the area that she was FM quilting. This works great for me also...but I only use it on small quilts. Anything bigger than 36x36 gets the "white glove" treatment!

I wear gloves when I FM. I just bought my second pair that are exactly like those you show on the left in your picture. I LOVE THEM!

I do wear gloves (the left side ones) but find I only use them when I really can't grip the quilt bare handed.

I'm the opposite of Dottie...the smaller the quilt the more chance there is the gloves get put on.

YES, I do, but I cut about an inch and a half off the thumbs and the first finger (pointer) so I can still replace a needle or fill a bobbin, etc. It really helps to use the gloves. I get mine at the garden/home shop real cheap.

I do wear gloves and my favorite are the ones on the left. They are light and not hot at all.

I have a long arm machine now, but when I want to do a smaller piece on the home machine, I actually don't like the gloves at all, nor do I like the hoop. I prefer to use the discs and I love them. Here's a Picture of them here. http://goingtopieces.blogspot.com/2008/07/it-really-is-sew-easy.html
