What Should I Do With This?????

This piece is whole cloth painted with Setacolor paints. This picture is a little darker than the actual piece. I am trying to make a follow up piece to my 'Flight Over Greenland' journal quilt that is still on tour somewhere. You can read about it here. I am really unhappy with the sky. I over painted it after it dried because I didn't like it and now I think I should have left well enough alone. I have been contemplating what to do for a couple of weeks now.

Should I just go for it an try another over paint? I was thinking I could us paint extender to give me more working time. I also thought I could put a resist on the mountain line before I paint because I really like the mountains and it really does look like Greenland when I flew over last year coming back from Denmark. I have also thought that maybe when it is quilted it will turn out ok. Any opinions would really be appreciated.

i think the creases between the mountains should be lighter and possibly more colored...the sky is nice though...as for the mountain tops, i'm not sure on how to improve for i've never visited the area...maybe you should have the very narrow tips whiter than the wider valley area of the mountain

I'm not sure I agree with you; I think the sky looks pretty good. I like how the snow caps dissolve into the sky.

Funny how things can look different to different people...to me, it looks like a wild ocean and I could picture dolphins jumping about in it! Crazy, huh???

I love this and think it's beautiful and that quilting will enhance it even further. I see nice value gradations and good design.

I like the sky. I'm glad you commented on my blog, so I found yours. A woman after my own heart-experiment, experiment.

I think the mountains are perfect, yes they really do look like the real thing, and if you change the sky I would indeed prtect them. I don't know what you had in mind for the sky, I like this one and how it darkens at the margins and layers in value. I think it is stunning in fact, and the quilting can only make it even better. I can't wait to see the final project. Gosh, I looked again and it is truly beautiful. I compared it to the flight over Greenland and I like the sky better in this one... but I know what it is like to have something in your mind and miss it. Okay, I have changed my mind, I think it is awful and you need to send it to me, so you don't have to look at it...did you buy that? Really, it is lovely.
