Birds or no Birds....That is the Question

I made some Bluebirds. These were sketched, then traced onto paper that I then cut up for a pattern. I then used several fabrics on each bird and fused them to muslin. Cut them out and placed them on stabilizer and thread painted them. Right now they are just pinned on the quilt and I didn't think much about the placement. Do you think I need these? I am not sure. Look at my previous post to see it without the birds.

I like the addition of the birds a lot. It adds focus. I'd probably experiment with other colors of birds just to see the different effects.

I really like this piece but with maybe one bird. It does need a focal point that the one bird would provide.

I think the birds add a little pizzazz to the piece. It adds just the right amount of contrast to an otherwise beautiful, but kind of boring background. I like the placement you have here as well.

I do like the blue the birds add to the composition and they do help the eye travel around the piece. However, I think they're too representational for the mood of the background. Maybe something more stylized...?

I like the birds, they add a punch of color. It is a good piece with out then though, reminds me of an undersea world somehow. Also, if you aim to sell it, I think a lot of people are bird lovers.

Yes definitely it needs the birds. They are a fantastic color and really make the entire piece pop.

I absolutely LOVE Bluebirds so I was happy to see them added to your beautiful piece.
I've been taking the screen printing class too. Had to put actual work on hold until my new grandbaby arrived. She's here, now DOWN TO WORK. :)Bea

Thanks for all of your comments. I really appreciate all of you opinions and I will add the birds since that seems to be the winning option!!

I do like the birds, and they draw the eye in the classic triangle for focus... they break up the similar values in the background...

I like it with the birds - it gives the piece more of a focal point than without them.

Yes, keep the birds. They add another layer of dimension to the piece and since you didn't use blue in the background, they really stand out and draw your eye around the quilt. I vote to keep them.

I like the birds, but maybe not as many?
